Hungry for More: Michelin-starred chef Lukas Mraz on a culinary mission
Episode 1: Love at first bite
Lukas Mraz and Tim Mälzer are no strangers. Whenever the two chefs meet up, it always gets hearty. But always in good fun. A long-standing friendship ties together Austrian Michelin-starred chef Lukas Mraz and well-known German TV chef Tim Mälzer. When Lukas invites his partner in crime Tim to Vienna, of course he wants to show him his favorite culinary go-to spots. The two kick off their tour at Cucina Itameshi, where Italian-Japanese fusion cuisine is served. Tim Mälzer is so excited about the concept that, with a wink, he immediately wants to copy it back home to Germany.
Next stop is Ostwind, a Chinese restaurant. Lukas loves spicy food, while Tim Mälzer right next to him already feels like a fire-breathing dragon. The tour takes the two chefs on to the restaurant Salzamt, where things get truly Viennese. "Is this a neo-Beisl?" Tim Mälzer asks. "No, a Beisl in Vienna has always been simple," Lukas counters. They end the day at Anzengruber . A place that couldn't be more Viennese. The Viennese banter with host Tommy is in full swing. The goulash made by Tommy's mom is legendary and tastes "insanely good." And Tim Mälzer is on cloud nine: "These dishes are world heritage, that's history."
In this video, chef Lukas Mraz shows his guest Tim Mälzer his favorite restaurants in Vienna.

Episode 2: Everybody's Dumpling
Knödel (or variations on them) can be found in almost every cuisine in the world. Knödel tell the story of culture, family, and local cuisine. Viennese and Austrian cuisine has an incredible variety of Knödel to offer, from sweet to savory. In this episode, chef Lukas Mraz guides us through Vienna's incredible Knödel scene, visits some of the city's most exciting culinary spots, and shares the stories, flavors, and traditions behind them. Along the way, he lets us in on a few of his personal favorite places, including a true hidden gem he normally prefers to keep to himself. His mom runs the restaurant Woracziczky, where Lukas indulges in sweet Knödel, from nougat to apricot.
At the legendary Herknerin , he makes spinach Knödel together with chef Stefanie Herkner and tastes wonderfully fluffy semolina dumplings (Grießnockerl). Lukas' absolute insider tip is the tavern "Zum Nordpol 3", known for Bohemian cuisine. Here, Lukas finally gets to taste his favorite Knödel: Grammelknödel. The tour wraps up with a stop at Rosebar Centrala. In the modern Beisl, a chef with Polish roots is in the kitchen, so they try Polish Silesian dumplings.
