The Markterei: a new foodie hotspot

If you want to meet the food producers in person and enjoy the freshest possible produce, you should pay a visit to the Markterei in the 9th district. The Markterei converted a former hydraulic engineering laboratory in the vicinity of the WUK cultural center into a covered market. The Markterei opens its doors on Fridays and Saturdays and offers producers a stage to present their food. Visitors can sample the produce at the stalls and enjoy it at a large table in the middle of the room. On Thursday, the focus is on gastronomy and a changing culinary offering. A charming garden is also an inviting spot to savor a bite to eat and a drink.

Women's Special in March

To mark International Women's Day on March 8, Markterei is dedicating the entire month of March to the theme of WOMEN.MAKE.MARKET. Top pastry chef Jaimy Reisinger is visiting Vienna for the first time with her fine dining concept BIJA-DINING (March 5). On market days, selected female chefs will present their products, sell them on site, and invite visitors to taste them.

The range of producers is diverse, with a focus on quality and regionality. There are also regular culinary events, ranging from guest chefs and an Easter market to a seedling market. The Markterei sees itself as a dynamic space where people can come together to share ideas.
