Youth hostels & hostels

Youth hostels have long since ceased to be the preserve of teenagers and twenty-somethings. Vienna’s hostels offer a total of around 3,200 beds. There's something to suit every taste - from the simple youth hostel, where you can find an inexpensive bed upon presentation of a youth hostel pass, to the large, comfortably appointed youth guesthouses. Our tip: book well in advance!

Camp sites

Vienna’s two campsites located on the edges of the city have plenty of space, even for large caravans.

The camp site New Danube "City, Sports & Nature" is close to Vienna's green oases – the Lobau National Park, the New Danube, and Danube Island. Those seeking refreshment in cool waters in between sightseeing and shopping should book into Aktiv Camping Neue Donau. Sports enthusiasts can make use of the site’s direct access to the Danube Cycle Path or one of the many other leisure offerings. Night-owls get their money’s worth at the nearby “Copa Beach” with its restaurants and bars.

The Camping Wien West camp site near the Vienna Woods promises recreation and peace, even though the city center is just 30 minutes away. Keen hikers and mountain bikers can choose from a large number of different routes and set off directly from the camp site. Culture vultures have the possibility to visit the nearby Schönbrunn Palace, the former summer residence of the Habsburgs, or the Church of St. Leopold (designed by Otto Wagner). More comfort is promised by the bungalows, which can accommodate up to 4 people. The bungalows have an area of 15 m² and are furnished with bunk beds, a table and chairs.
Please note: The campsite Wien West is closed due to a general renovation until probably fall 2024.
