Explore Hundertwasser’s Vienna with ivie

Friedensreich Hundertwasser (1928-2000) was an extraordinary artist whose works and visions have spread around the world. No other Viennese artist of the 20th century left behind such a diverse oeuvre as the revolutionary artist born Friedrich Stowasser. His art includes paintings and collages as well as stamps, tapestries and flags. But it was primarily his creative achievements as a designer of extraordinary buildings that secured him a place in art history.

And he was ahead of his time with his ecological thinking. Today's hot topics such as soil sealing and the establishment of a circular economy were already on his mind in the 1960s. Hundertwasser's ideas have made Vienna a little more environmentally friendly. With the Hundertwasser Audio Walk, you can experience Hundertwasser's Vienna as part of an extended walk that takes around three hours. Here you can immerse yourself in his life, his thoughts and his activism for the environment and nature.

The audio walk features Hundertwasser’s major creations such as the Kunst Haus Wien, which houses the Hundertwasser Museum with the largest Hundertwasser collection in the world. His most famous work, the Hundertwasserhaus, is just as important a part of the tour as the extraordinary Spittelau waste incineration plant. A stroll down the Hundertwasser Promenade, which meanders alongside the Danube Canal, is not to be missed, and the curious tree tenant on Alserbachstrasse is also a must-see. The Looshaus reflects Hundertwasser’s aversion to modernist architecture.
