Humorous porcelain souvenirs
The hand-made jewelry series "Coffee House on the Ring" by Andrea Steinhauser is an especially humorous souvenir of Vienna. Her collection consists of metal rings that are decorated with typical coffee house motifs made from porcelain. You can therefore wear Sachertorte, Melange, Punschtorte, Viennese breakfast or even a sausage with mustard and a roll on your finger. Some of the motifs are also available as earrings, brooches or pendants.
Bibi Beranek also sells amusing decorations made from porcelain and from ceramic. She produces free-standing ceramic figures in humorous poses. Particularly curvaceous female figures are frequently found in her designs, viewed from a humorous perspective. Bibi Beranek sees herself as a ridge hiker between kitsch and cult. In her porcelain series, the artist drapes the figures on tins, praline dishes or tea light holders.
When talking of porcelain from Vienna, Augarten simply has to be on the list. Classical products such as tableware can be found here alongside all manner of humorous decorative items: such as the Frog King Fridolin or a porcelain tin in the shape of a doughnut.
