Augarten Vienna Porcelain Manufactory

Founded in 1718, the Vienna Porcelain Manufactory is the second oldest porcelain manufactory in Europe. In 1923, after the dissolution of the Habsburg Monarchy, it was reopened as the Augarten Porcelain Manufactory. Under this name, the company remains renowned far beyond the borders of Vienna to this day. It is named after the Augarten, a Baroque park where the Augarten manufactory building and the Porcelain Museum are located. The Palais Auersperg, home of the Vienna Boys’ Choir, and the MuTh, their concert hall, are also located in the immediate vicinity.

Augarten porcelain is, in terms of art history, comparable to that of the German manufactories Meissen and Nymphenburg. Vases, dinnerware, tea and coffee sets, figurines, lamps and gifts are all handmade at the Augarten Vienna Porcelain Manufactory. Designs have been created in collaboration with renowned artists ever since the manufactory was founded. Representatives of every era have designed masterpieces for Augarten Porcelain – with more than 25,000 products, the spectrum ranges from baroque to modern.

The “Viennese Rose” is a famous decoration from the Biedermeier period, while the world-famous melon service was created by Josef Hoffmann in 1929. Young designers work on modern forms and minimalist décor, while continuously maintaining the 300-year tradition. Individual customer requests are also implemented to perfection. The elegant porcelainware can be purchased in the store of the porcelain manufactory or at the flagship store in Vienna city center.
