Day Trip to the Mauthausen Concentration Camp Memorial

The day trip to the Mauthausen Concentration Camp Memorial is now available for history-conscious visitors to Vienna. The guided memorial tour starts in the morning at Josef-Meinrad-Platz, next to the Burgtheater, and takes participants by bus to Mauthausen in Upper Austria and back.

This special tour sheds light on the role that the Mauthausen concentration camp played under the Nazi regime of terror and tells the story of the Jewish victims of the Nazi era. Mauthausen now stands as one of Austria’s key sites of remembrance.

All details about the Mauthausen tour

  • Departure point: Josef-Meinrad-Platz (next to the Burgtheater), 1010 Vienna. Meeting at 7:45 am, departure promptly at 8 am.
  • Destination: Mauthausen Concentration Camp Memorial
  • Price: €18 per person; €9 for participants 18 and under; €10 for students aged 26 and under.
  • Transportation: Comfortable round-trip by bus included
  • Return: Departure from Mauthausen at 4 pm, arrival back in Vienna around 6 pm

    Special offers for people with disabilities

    At each performance, the Burgtheater provides places in the stalls with acoustic amplification by means of induction for visitors who wear a hearing aid. The acoustic signal is also amplified for all visitors. This can be received in the theater during the performance on radio frequency 99.2 MHz using a radio receiver, mobile telephone or MP3 player with radio reception. Please bring your own headset.
