Go vintage and secondhand shopping with ivie
Do you love one-of-a-kind pieces and find mass-produced items uninspiring? Are you on the lookout for objects and clothing that tell a story? And do you want to explore Vienna beyond the downtown area? If so, the “Vintage Shopping Grätzel Walk” is just right for you.
Discover shops and neighborhoods
This city walk, which is found within ivie, the city guide app for Vienna, takes you from the city center to local neighborhoods, known as Grätzel, where you can discover unique vintage and secondhand stores. Vienna’s most legendary flea market, held every Saturday at the Naschmarkt, is also included in the walk.
Explore 15 shops
The city walk starts at Stephansplatz, where you’ll find Carla Stephansplatz in a prime location – a Caritas secondhand shop with a social mission. The route continues through the Freihausviertel in the 4th district, a neighborhood that has always been home to Vienna’s urban spirit. In the 5th district, on Kettenbrückengasse near the Naschmarkt, you’ll find Bananas – a true Viennese vintage furniture classic.
The walk also takes you through the 6th district, a Viennese hot spot for secondhand shopping, where you’ll discover everything from furniture and exclusive secondhand designer fashion to bold 1990s outfits. Next, the route leads through the 7th district, where photography fans can browse cameras from a wide range of eras. The grand finale of the Vintage Shopping Grätzel Walk is a visit to the Glasfabrik, one of Vienna’s largest secondhand stores. Spread over three floors and 2,500 square meters, you’ll find furniture, vinyl records, decorative objects and so much more. You’ll need about three hours for the entire walk.
