Glühwein (Mulled Wine)


  • 100 g Fine granulated sugar
  • 3 pcs Star anise
  • 6 pcs Cardamom pods
  • 6 pcs Cloves
  • 2 pcs Cinnamon bark
  • 750 ml Red wine/white wine
  • 250 ml Orange juice
  • 1 pcs Lemon
  • 1 pcs Orange

How to make Glühwein (Mulled wine).


Caramelize sugar, star anise, cardamom and cloves. Add cinnamon bark and continue to stir until the sugar has almost dissolved. Add red wine, orange juice, lemon zest and orange pieces. Finally, bring to a boil.

Didn't finish your drink? Don't pour the cold mulled wine away – you can use it to quickly transform an ordinary gugelhupf into a mulled wine gugelhupf.
