We start in Zollergasse, home to a bedrock of the Viennese dining scene. Café Europa has been around for more than 30 years. You can eat and drink here until late into the night, and the kitchen is open until 4.00 am. Café Europa was a pioneer on Zollergasse; today, there are many other establishments nearby. Right next door is the Liebling. It has a charmingly improvised look with bare walls and thrown-together furniture. There are also snacks to eat here.

Ganz Wien, named after Falco's first hit, stands opposite and is a hip coffee house and bar in a pastel vintage style. The Prosecco comes from the barrel. Kaffemik appears as a coffee bar with purist furnishings. A stylish counter, a few chairs and coffee from the best roast houses in Europe are the recipe for success. Agent Oscar presents itself as a classic American bar, with 250 cocktails and numerous individual spirits on the menu. The interior plays with quotes from the time of prohibition. Blues, swing and jazz ensure relaxation.

At the corner of Zollergasse/Lindengasse stands the trendy Vietnamese establishment Sapa, known for its rice paper rolls with assorted fillings. The restaurant also includes the French pâtisserie Tart'a tata – with wonderful eclairs, tarts and many other sweet sins.

On we go to Kirchengasse, where a string of trendy eateries can also be found right next door to each other. At Bizù, the furnishings are stylishly shabby chic, there's a diverse breakfast selection (daily until 1.00 pm), a small but mighty menu and a good range of drinks. Le Troquet is a real French venue. The charming restaurant serves typically French bistro dishes and good wines.

The Anan Bistrot on Kirchengasse serves Vietnamese cuisine in an authentic atmosphere. The restaurant is divided into two rooms separated by a hallway and serves Vietnamese classics. The inner courtyard is a real highlight in summer. It’s very narrow, but the design is incredibly idyllic. A welcome surprise.
