Vienna Future Food Week

Starting October 1, the Vienna Future Food Week focuses on our food culture over the course of ten days. The festival brings together international voices from the world of food culture and explores questions about society, design, craftsmanship, sustainability, and the future of our food culture.

Popchop has made a name for itself in the local culinary scene with its events and a progressive magazine. Everything here revolves around innovative food production, the enjoyment of food and the social impact of our food culture. With the Vienna Future Food Week, Popchop will once again transform Vienna into the hub for the food of the future from October 1 to 10, 2026. The festival will take place at various locations, featuring more than 30 events, including interesting talks, workshops, and exhibitions, as well as pop-ups, kitchen takeovers, and new culinary experiences.

A few highlights from the program:

Butcher Flora Phillips, an outspoken voice in contemporary meat and food culture, is traveling from London to Vienna. She is known for a contemporary approach to the butchery craft and her nose-to-tail culture. As part of the festival, she is collaborating with Café Kandl and Cucina Alchimia.
On October 3, the Vienna Future Food Week will invite visitors to an afternoon of food culture, design, and music, with free admission, at the festival headquarters of the Vienna Design Week, at Hietzinger Kai 101.
The guest city of Zurich will present its culinary fusions with Sacchi Bar and Swiss restaurateur Patrick Schindler on October 3 at Cucina Itameshi.
The Unbeschwipst fair on October 4 at the Markterei will focus on non-alcoholic drinking and dining.
Christian Tschida, named Winemaker of the Year 2026 by the gastronomy magazine Falstaff, will be at R&Bar on October 8. Tschida is one of the leading figures in the Austrian natural wine scene and and the wine scene as a whole.
Michelin-starred chef Lukas Mraz has created an interpretation of the Buchtel for the Vienna Future Food Week, which will be available during the festival at all Joseph Brot locations.
