Popchop has made a name for itself in the local culinary scene with its events and a progressive magazine. Everything here revolves around innovative food production, the enjoyment of food and the social impact of our food culture. As part of the Vienna Future Food Week, Popchop will once again turn Vienna into the epicenter of future food from October 3 to 11, 2025. The festival invites visitors to various locations for interesting talks and exhibitions, as well as kitchen takeovers and new flavor experiences.
New to the program this year is the “Tableau” format at the MAK – Museum of Applied Arts. Focusing on tableware and design, the table itself becomes a stage. Collectors, traditional companies such as Lobmeyr and vintage shops will present their pieces and special design objects. The materials range from glass and enamel to plastic and electronics. The objects are also available for purchase.
Another highlight is the “mit alles” market at WUK. Here, wine lovers can sample not only the traditional Veltliner but also fine natural wines from Austria and the surrounding regions. Characterful and exciting grape varieties await. Meanwhile, chefs serve up creative dishes for slow food fans. The specialty shop for non-alcoholic drinks, kein&low, and the restaurant Rosi, show that exciting beverages don’t need alcohol. The “Unbeschwipst” dinner presents a six-course meal paired with six intriguing beverages, all under 0.5% alcohol. This menu will be offered for the first time during the Future Food Week on October 10.
Kicking off the Kitchen Take-overs, the renowned Klinker Bar from Hamburg will be a guest at Cucina Itameshi in the Dogenhof. The Feuerdrache (fire dragon) format promises grilled delicacies and a sophisticated wine list. One highlight follows the next, as various guest chefs continue to make special appearances in Vienna’s kitchens. The grand finale comes at Kikko Bā, where Döner Veltliner delivers an ironic take on street food and natural wine as a perfect symbiosis.
