The brewery was established in 1929 by Ignaz Gegenbauer, whose main business back in those days was the manufacture of pickled preserves such as sauerkraut, gherkins and pickled vegetables. Today the old cellar vaults are used exclusively to produce high-quality vinegar products such as fruit, wine, balsamic and drinking vinegars.
Since the founding of the "Wiener Öl Mühle" (Vienna Oil Mill) and the "Wiener Bier Brauerei" (Vienna Beer Brewery), people have been on guided tours to learn how vinegar, oil and beer are made, where they mature and how many everyday dishes can be refined with a few drops of these products. A range of tasting sessions of the produce are also held.
